To authors all over the world, absolutely no other plans matter other than NaNoWriMo! Even on Thanksgiving, eating may come a close second to meeting the daily word count. This year, I am back for revenge! Due to time constraints dealing with college homework that "all of the sudden" decided to make more of an appearance last November than any other month... ever! I graciously formally withdrew from NaNoWriMo. Thus, still leaving me with a perfect record of unsuccess!

What is NanoWrimo? See that cartoon up there? That's NaNoWriMo!

NaNoWriMo is a cool nickname for National Novel Writing Month. Now this non-profit organization is active all year around. However, the big holiday is just within arms length  of us and so many people are happy. Worldwide, November 1st begins the 30 days and nights of literary abandonment until November 30th.

This will be the first time I will participate in this spectacular event and I must say...that I am extremely excited.

What are you thinking now? Me. Kenon 50,000 words in one month! Writing a novel? Kenon I thought that you were a food journalist?

Of course writers and authors have specific genre(s) in which they spend years perfecting. And yet I am no where near a normal status quo. If I can think about it, I'm writing it. Food, poetry, story through photos... It doesn't matter to me! I love putting myself in a variety of environments and atmospheres.

I believe it only strengthens my creativity to put it in a completely new world looking into what I believe I know, with a different pair of glasses on.

So what will the novel that I attempt to write be about? Well, I am writing sketches and outlines out right now. I will say this. The kid will be similar to me and on an adventure like no other!

Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Are you pumped? Have any ideas or sketches yet?

Becoming more involved with Twitter than I have, I follow @StephanieLMcGee and I constantly seen #ninowrimo on her tweets in reference to writing tweets. Me being the inquisitive kid that I am, I just had to see what #ninowrimo was.

Created by Ali Cross (Writing Ninja), reading a few blog posts, I learned that there were different ranks in ninjas.

I do it to myself
Before anyone else does
Every time I feel the need to expand
I find myself gradually declining
While jotting down notes on every crack
Of my past mistakes of an endless wall
Knowing that I am doing this to become better

Getting so close to the water
Bottomless but beginning
Just two feet above where I pause

When a certain feeling
Shoots goosebumps all over my body
I know it’s time to light a blow torch
Stamped "Kenon Thompson"
Climbing up this ladder once again
Re-building a better me

For those of you who don't know, aside from expressing my love of food through writing, I also love to write about life in general. The smallest things seem to catch my attention more then the in-your-face-extravagant moments. This is a photo that I have taken for my Project365 (a project consisting of taking a photo every day for a year, depicting what that day meant to you through photos and narrative). I have written a small excerpt of my poem and will like to share the teaser with you all.

"Realize that there is so much for you to see
Your vision is an explorer
Never cover it
And always look up more then you look down" - Me
